I sat down with Derek Whited, our Pest Control Expert, to ask him what his most frequently asked question is this time of year. “Clients are always questioning the benefit of continuing services and interior sprays during the winter months.” Derek went on to explain why it is so important to still maintain programs or apply interior/exterior spray in the cold months. Some common Winter pests that our area sees a lot of are: spiders, stink bugs, boxelder bugs, & Asian beetles.
Winter time is when these bugs make the push to go inside your home because it is cold outside! The bugs are looking for a warm place to hibernate, and due to limited food resources, they still need to move around to find them, same as they do in the Spring, Summer, and Fall months. Things you can do to limit pests in your home in the Winter months are:
• Be sure to be on the schedule for an interior spray in the mid to late Fall      (Our Bi-Monthly programs hit this time of the season)
• Continue your program into the Winter months, including the exterior          sprays, incase there are unusually warm days or the pests  are already          inside.
• Home exclusion can help prevent pests from getting inside, walk around      with our expert to see where they may be entering the home.

“I find the clients who are willing to follow our program schedules and continue cold month spraying, are in much better shape come Spring.”

It’s important to remember that our team is very cognizant of the temperatures and when it is too cold to apply some of our chemicals. We never go out and apply exterior sprays when the
possibility of the chemical may freeze before it has the opportunity to dry. The temperature at which our chemicals begin to freeze is different than that of just water freezing.

As always, we want to exceed your expectations and make sure you are receiving the best possible service. We encourage you to ask questions, if you haven’t learned something after our conversation, or you aren’t seeing any improvements, than we aren’t doing our job. Reach out to our office with any questions or to schedule a consultation with our pest control expert.
